Robert J. Tonos

Robert J. Tonos is a partner with the law firm of Fisk Kart Katz and Regan, Ltd. His practice has focused exclusively on real estate taxation and assessment law since 1984. Before coming to Fisk Kart Katz and Regan, Ltd., he was an assistant states attorney for Cook County. In that capacity Bob represented Cook County in real estate assessment matters in both the state courts and in the United States District Court, the United States Court of Appeals, and the United States Supreme Court. He has been with Fisk kart Katz and Regan, Ltd., since 1988, where ha has continued to handle a wide spectrum of assessment matters at both the administrative and court levels, including major commercial and industrial properties. Bob is the chairman of the Real Estate Taxation Committee of the Chicago Bar Association, a committee in which he has been active for many years. He is also a member of the International Association of Assessing Officials, where he has served on the Legal Committee; the Institute of Property Taxation; and the Illinois State Bar Association. He has been a speaker at seminars given by the Chicago Bar Association and the International Association of Assessing Officals. He contributed to the chapter on taxpayers' remedies in the current edition of Real Estate Taxation published by the Illinois Institute of Continuing Legal Education. Bob received both his undergraduate and law degrees from the University of Chicago. Between college and law school he did graduate work in Slavic linguistics at Brown University. Bob is proficient in French, Spanish, Russian, Czech, German, and Italian. |
